Picking a Cummerbund for formal occasions

I was invited to a formal dinner dance recently and my wife gave me strict instructions that it was going to be a black tie event. I’ve not been to such an occasion for quite some time and it was obvious I was going to need a new dinner jacket along with an updated Cummerband. My old Cummerband has seen plenty of action in its time and sadly this dinner function was one social setting too far. It was time to replace my old Cumemrband with something slightly more modern, or at least buy a product that wasn’t falling apart at the seams. I’m a bit old fashioned when it comes to dressing etiquette and don’t see the point in buying a modern Cummerbund that comes in bright or garish colours. I know it’s popular to funk up the look of a Cummerbund these days and match the colour of the item with bow ties, but I don’t think you can wrong with a simple black products. They say black is a slimming colour and I need all the help I can get in that department, that’s why I chose this particular colour for my new Cummerbund. Take care with the fastenings on a Cummerbund

My old Cummerbund was fastened with buckles and they could be pretty fiddly at the best of times. So I decided to opt for a change this time around and bought a Cummerbund that came with a velcro fastening. Call me lazy if you like but I find the Velcro fastening on my new Cummerbund is less of a nuisance and I can fasten in half the time of my old garment. Plus the fastening is adjustable and that comes in handy when you have gorged on a five-course banquet. I’m not sure how many more times I’ll wear my new Cummerbund in the future but at least I’m prepared if we get invited to any more black tie social settings.
