An increasing number of people around the world are using tablet PC devices for a range of tasks, with many opting to go for Android tablet systems. According to a recent survey, consumers who purchase devices like this tend to experience a so-called ‘honeymoon phase’, during which they utilise the items a lot and for many different tasks.
The Tablet Trends Study was conducted by Rosetta Consulting Practice and it found that this intensive usage phase typically lasted for around six month.
Meanwhile, the firm also discovered that individuals use their table PC devices in a range of different locations. For example, as well as engaging in activities involving the items while in their living rooms, kitchens and so on, they also took them into their bathrooms, bedrooms and gardens.
Additionally, Rosetta noted that 12 per cent of tablets, including Android tablet systems, were handed over as gifts. Meanwhile, more than one fifth (21 per cent) were purchased on retail websites.
However, the most likely place for users to research the offerings was on manufacturers’ own websites.
Commenting on the findings, Rosetta’s Daniel Blackburn said: “Something particularly unexpected is that I think people would generally think of a tablet as a device used in home, whereas smartphones are out of home. Each of those contexts has an influence on the way we define the role of each device.
“This study represents one departure from that assumption and, as tablets are increasingly making their way out of the home, we could see some changes in how we would engage users in branded experiences on those devices.”
Another issue to bear in mind is the rising popularity of tablets in a variety of working environments as well as in homes. They can be highly convenient in a range of professional situations and can make people’ lives easier.
