Where to Buy a Used Piano

Pianos make a beautiful addition to any room however they can be rather expensive to buy. You can save yourself money, by purchasing a used piano instead of a brand new one.

A great place to look is on large online auction sites, such as eBay. They work on a bidding system, whereby the highest bidder at the end of the auction wins the item. Always check you are purchasing from a top rated seller that has great feedback, so you know you can trust them. If you want to get a discounted piano, then you could always purchase one that needs fixing. You can then restore and repair it, and save yourself a lot of money while doing it. If you are paying with Paypal, then you will be protected in the rare event that there is a problem with your purchase. The only trouble with eBay, is that your piano may be located far away from where you live. You can arrange shipping by contacting one of the large delivery services, or you can hire a van to drive and collect it yourself. There is also the option in eBay’s advanced settings to search for a used piano that is within a certain radius of your zip code or postcode.

You can also check on local online directories, such as Gumtree or Craigslist. People will sell their used pianos on these sites. Remember, unlike eBay, your purchases aren’t protected, so use your brain when buying anything from here. Always go and view the piano in person, to ensure that it is working correctly, before you hand over any cash.

Finally you can check the ‘for sale’ section in your local newspapers or magazines, as some people may advertise their piano this way. You may also want to place a ‘wanted’ advert in the newspaper, or on the notice board of your local newsagents, so that people can contact you directly if they want to sell their piano.
