Business

A better way to manage flexible time

Not every worker does the standard nine to five day. In some professions people have always worked on shifts that cover all times of day and night. Even in offices the traditional model is becoming less rigid and more flexible. People are able to and actively encouraged to start and finish at different times. This has a huge impact on quality of life and makes things like childcare arrangements easier. However, for the organisation offering flexible working or managing workers on different shift patterns this process has to be managed. They need to keep track of who has done what so they know that everyone has worked their allocation of hours, plus work out any overtime payments that may be due.

Managing this manually is time consuming and inefficient. Resources can be better utilised in other areas of the business. They don’t need to be tied up managing flexible time schemes and nor do they have to be.

Increasingly companies are turning to technology to help them manage this aspect of their business. Software systems can help with time recording. The process can be automated up to a point which means far less time, effort and resource is required to track what is going on.

Offering flexible time arrangements to staff or managing shift patterns doesn’t have to be a headache and it doesn’t have to impact on HR. They have plenty of other more important tasks to be getting on with rather than becoming embroiled in yet more administration.

Any organisation looking for a more efficient way to managing time recording should think about talking to a company like P and Q. They have designed a variety of technology based solutions to make this aspect of managing the workforce that bit easier. The paper trail can be eliminated and valuable time and resource freed up straight away. It’s a sound investment.
