Beaded Lanyards

Beaded lanyards are one of the oldest kind of lanyard. They are the original solution for allowing people to hang membership cards, ID tags and passes around their neck. As the name suggests they are a series of beads strung onto a string with somewhere to attach a cardholder. They usually do up at the back of the neck by means of the clever little hook mechanism. Most of them are quite thin and light.

Beaded Lanyards are Not Old-fashioned

Some people feel that beaded lanyards are old-fashioned. Whilst it is true that they are one of the oldest forms of lanyards available, they are not really old-fashioned. In fact, right now they are back in vogue.

One of the main reasons they have come back in vogue is that they actually look quite good. They are one of the most inexpensive kinds of lanyards you can buy, yet one of the most durable.

Importantly, they are also one of the most practical kinds of lanyards. You can buy them in various lengths; however, if the length you want is not available you can simply shorten an existing lanyards. To do so all you need is a sharp pair of scissors to cut off a few beads. If you did the same with many modern nylon lanyards, you completely ruin it because you would be cutting the fastener off.

This kind of lanyard is ideal for children to use. You can cut them to fit each child. However, before using them on children you should consider whether a lanyard with a breakaway fastener would be more appropriate. These lanyards are designed to snap off and breakaway the moment they catch on something. Beaded lanyards tend to be a little bit tougher and it would take a significant yank for the lanyard to break.

Where to Buy Beaded Lanyards

Unfortunately, only a few manufacturers still make beaded lanyards. However, they are still relatively easy to find because they are available on the onternet. The best ID card producers still sell them and you occasionally find them sold by specialist stationers who supply conference materials.
