Cost of ink is major factor when people buy printers

When consumers and businesses invest in new printers, they tend to bear a range of issues in mind in a bid to find the most suitable products for them. For example, the upfront cost of the devices tends to feature highly, along with their functions and quality.

Meanwhile, a poll conducted by PC Advisor among its readers suggested that the cost of replacement ink cartridges is the deciding factor for many people. This is perhaps no surprise. After all, over the lifetime of the products, the cost of cartridge replacements can mount up.

The survey, which was conducted in association with Kodak, found that 59 per cent of respondents rated the cost of replacement cartridges as their main priority when investing in a printer.

Commenting on this issue PC Advisor said: “When buying a printer, it is important to consider the total cost of ownership, or the cost of replenishing toner and other consumables over the lifetime of the printer. Most manufacturers quote a ‘page yield’ estimate for their ink cartridges, which is the typical number of pages you can expect to print before the cartridge runs out of ink.”

The research also revealed that 14 per cent of respondents made their decisions based on the price of the printer itself.

Other factors included the print quality, connectivity features and the ease with which the printers could be set up. These options received 13 per cent, eight per cent and six per cent of the votes respectively.

These days, it’s easier than ever before for consumers to source replacement cartridges for their printers. Whether they are after Lexmark printer ink cartridges, HP laser toner ink cartridges or anything else, they should be able to find exactly what they’re after in no time by heading online. This method of buying supplies can also work out much more cost effective.
