East Yorkshire Transport

The history of East Yorkshire transport is a long one. This part of Yorkshire has always had a good road network, because there has always been a lot of demand in this part of the UK.

A Brief History of East Yorkshire Transport

The earliest contribution to East Yorkshire transport was made by the Romans, who built the first major roads in the area. They built their first roads across The Wolds in 70AD. Prior to this the road network was already quite well developed, but was only really designed for the movement of animals and basic agricultural products. From their Wold road the Romans built a major road to their fort at Eboracum. Today both roads are still in use. The Danes who took over the area did not do much to the road network they increased agricultural production, but used the existing road network to move those extra goods.

Not a lot of development was necessary until the 18th and 19th century when heavy industry came to the county and agricultural production increased further. However, most of the products produced in the county were moved by the new canal and rail networks that were built rather than by road.

Modern East Yorkshire Transport

In modern times, the road network in East Yorkshire remains relatively underdeveloped. There is very little motorway in the county, even today. Despite this, the transport industry is still important in East Yorkshire. Everyone who works out of the county needs the services of hauliers to move their products. As a result number of hauliers and transport companies sprang up in the area. Many national and international hauliers also have hubs in the area.

To compete in the modern transport industry some East Yorkshire transport firms have joined forces. By pooling their resources, some of the county’s oldest haulier firms are now able to compete successfully with even the large European hauliers. Many of them use high tech satellite tracking and low emission vehicles to help them to compete. Because of this innovative approach, the future of the East Yorkshire transport industry looks bright.

Eurovision Logistics is one of the best East Yorkshire Transport firms there is. They run over 80 vehicles and offer a UK and European wide service at competitive prices.
