Is a Zippo lighter still popular in a smoke-conscious world?

Back in the day, when I was younger, I smoked like a trooper and always had a packet of cigs and my Zippo lighter handy wherever I travelled. The dangers of smoking weren’t as obvious back in those days, yes I was aware of the risks of smoking but that didn’t prevent me from using my Zippo on a regular basis.

Zippo Lighters have been around for decades and my Zippo was a second hand model that I picked up at one of my local stores that sells all sorts of quirky items. The Zippo I had was a silver model and I seem to remember it had the name of some oil company on the side of it for no apparent reason. Possibly it was handed out as a freebie many moons ago or maybe it was given to a worker back in the 1960s before the dangers of smoking were more commonly known.

What’s happening with Zippo lighters today?

I’m not sure what happened to my Zippo lighter but I’ve been nicotine-free now for the best part of 10 years. Smoking is kind of frowned upon by society these days and you’d think that Zippo Lighters were out of fashion as a result. However that’s simply not the case, there’s still a huge demand for Zippo products by smokers and lovers of the great outdoors can’t seem to cope without having a handy lighter on standby either.

That’s the thing about a Zippo, you don’t have to be a smoker to enjoy the fabulous functionality of this lighter it’s the ideal product to use if you want to light a fire.

Calling all campers

Stick a Zippo in your backpack when you go camping and you’ll never have to fumble around with damp matches again. A Zippo lighter is windproof, it can cope with a host of extreme weather conditions and that’s especially useful if you go camping, hiking or backpacking in the UK.

The classic styling of a Zippo lighter hasn’t changed over the years and the reliability of Zippo Lighters hasn’t faltered either. Okay, they might be used less by smokers these days but Zippo lighters are still hugely popular with lovers of the great outdoors and collectors of lighters in equal measures.

I only wish I’d kept hold of my classic Zippo it might have been worth something today!
