More people making last minute holiday bookings

These days, it’s easier than ever before for people to book holidays and to make use of airport car parks, airport hotels and so on. The web has contributed to this. By heading online, consumers can book breaks and the associated travel arrangements in a matter of moments.

Meanwhile, research conducted by lastminute.com suggests that more individuals may be utilising last minute bookings.

According to the firm, around a sixth (16 per cent) of UK consumers prefer to leave making weekend plans until the day before or on the day.

In the past, it would have been impossible to jet off on vacations at such late notice, but by making the most of cyberspace, people can now book trips with hardly any time to spare.

For example, they might find great deals on weekend breaks abroad and, by taking advantage of the airport parking now available, whether they need Edinburgh airport parking or anything else, they can ensure the process of getting to the relevant transport hub is simple and quick.

Commenting on consumers’ increasingly spontaneous approach to their social lives, managing director of lastminute.con Mark Maddock said: “We have seen people become more impulsive as they are likely to take up fun activities and make new plans nearer the time.

“It seems at once a product of the fast-paced nature of our lives but also the fact that we are much more socially mobile. There are also some fantastic deals to be had by holding off on plans, from theatre seats to city breaks and restaurant bookings.”

He went on to note that this means those who make decisions with little time to spare do not have to suffer financial penalties like they did in the past.

By comparing deals online, consumers can be sure they will benefit from good value for money.
