The Nissan Qashqai

The Nissan Qashqai, which is also known as the Dualis, is a great car. It is a compact Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV).

Despite the fact, it has only been available since 2007 there are already a lot of them on the road. In 2010, it was the tenth bestselling car in the UK. It has a five star Euro NCAP safety rating which has the best ever occupant score, making it one of the safest cars available.

The Nissan Qashqai Engines

The range has a good choice of engines making it easy for anyone to find the right vehicle for their specific needs. The three Nissan Qashqai petrol engines are 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0 litres. For the diesel models, the choice is between a 1.6L and a 2-litre engine.

The Updates

As normal Nissan have constantly updated and modified the Qashqai. They gave it a facelift in 2010 and launch a eco-friendly Pure Drive version in mid 2011. The 2010 facelift was not radical but it included changing the front end and adding LED taillights. Inside there was a new instrument panel. The driver’s computer was also updated. There is also now a 7-seater version available called the Quashqai+2.

In 2011, the car was updated again. The main changes were to the engine. Nissan wanted to make the car more eco-friendly. They changed the configuration of the 1.6 dci giving it more or less the same capacity and power as the 2.0 engine. Both versions of the car also got an Around View Monitor fitted as standard.

The Future of the Nissan Qashqai

All of the indications are that Nissan will continue with this line of cars. However, they are likely to continue to adapt their offering to keep it fresh and up to date. Nissan are very interested in making their whole range as eco-friendly and economical to run as possible. Even though the Nissan Qashqai already has a fantastic record when it comes to safety, the company are seeking to improve this too. This car already has the edge when it comes to price being considerably cheaper than other similar cars in its class and this is likely to continue to be the case.
