Often you will find that you suffer with excess mucus, this may be due to an infection or condition, so understanding mucus management can help you with this pesky inconvenience.

On average an adult will produce around two litres of mucus each day, this is normal to reduce pollutants and allergens from entering our bodies and causing allergic reactions. We have mucus in our nose and lungs to help keep everything in tip top shape, though this can become excessive with the slightest problem, such as an unwanted cold.

If you have been diagnosed with cancer, especially lung cancer you will find that you have excess mucus, the same applies if you have bronchitis or pneumonia.

COPD or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a term used for a variety of conditions including bronchitis or emphysema and these conditions mostly affect people over thirty five years old that are smokers.

Cystic fibrosis is a hereditary condition which is normally diagnosed at a young age. This condition affects the internal organs especially the lungs.

Easy Mucus Management Techniques

Most of these conditions will be treated with medication such as cough syrups and in chronic cases, antibiotics. This loosens the excess mucus making mucus management easier and you feeling better within a short period.

There are mucus management techniques which do not include medication such as using humidifiers, attending physiotherapy sessions and using flutter devices.
